Gove recalled by MPs

Gove recalled by MPs
Michael Gove has been recalled to appear before MPs to answer allegations he misled Parliament on complaints of bullying by his special advisers.

Mr Gove has hit back at the Education Select Committee, responding that he would be prepared to appear as early as tomorrow.

“I will, of course, be happy to appear in front of you at any time to discuss any issue,” the Education Secretary wrote in a letter to the committee.

“I am, in fact, free tomorrow to answer any question you might like to put. Then, perhaps, the Department for Education team can get on with improving children’s lives and you can consider where your own energies might be directed.”

Mr Gove has previously denied any knowledge of improper behaviour by his advisers, and said it was not “normal practice” for a secretary of state to be aware of disciplinary procedures against advisers.
