Calls for an inquiry into flotilla attack

Calls for an inquiry into flotilla attack
There have been calls for an "immediate and independent" inquiry into a raid by Israeli forces on a convoy of aid ships bound for Gaza, which left nine people dead. The Foreign Secretary William Hague said that the Israeli response to the flotilla looked on first impressions like an "overreaction" and that an inquiry should take place. Mark Lyall Grant, the British ambassador to the UN told a special meeting of the UN this evening that Israel "bears a responsibility" to provide a full account of what happened and he stressed that aid must be allowed into Gaza. Sir Ming Campbell said any inquiry should not only be impartial, but also international.
