Darling 'hid good news from PM'

Alistair Darling hid £7bn of "good news" about the deficit from Gordon Brown until the day the budget, the FT claims. Elsewhere Darling has used a Guardian interview to accuse the Tories of exagerrating the scale of Britain's financial troubles in order to justify early cuts.
