Clarke: I may not axe any prison places

The justice secretary Ken Clarke has told The Sun he may not reduce the number of prison places, despite previous reports. Mr Clarke told the paper he would make prisoners work while they are incarcerated, saying: "A good percentage of prisoners must be made to do something more sensible in prison. Make them work, give them training - a template to make better people of them."
