Policing Pope's visit may cost £1.5m

Policing the Pope's visit to Britain could cost £1.5m, according to force chiefs. South Yorkshire Police Chief Constable Meredydd Hughes, who is co-ordinating the unprecedented police operation said the figure could rise ahead of next week's four-day visit. Former first minister for Northern Ireland Ian Paisley has said the government should cancel the pope's state welcome, saying "he is not a king".
