Clegg: We're not going back to the 1930s

Nick Clegg has said that long-term decisions on public spending cuts might be difficult, painful and unpopular but the coalition government was acting in the best interests of the nation. Taking questions after a speech yesterday the deputy prime minister stressed headlines suggesting cuts would take Britain back to the 1930s depression were political "hyperbole".
