Associated Press and Politico report that Obama will nominate Hillary Clinton to be secretary of state after Thanksgiving. An anonymous senior adviser told AP that Obama believes she will bring "instant stature and credibility" to US diplomacy. Questions over Mr Clinton's foreign fund-raising have apparently been straightened out.

AUTO BAILOUT POSTPONED

The proposed bailout of the auto industry has been postponed in order to give the executives of the "Big Three" until December 2nd to provide a plan to achieve "accountability and viability". Senator Dodd will hold hearings that week, and Congress plans to vote on the proposals December 8th.
