The College works to ensure high quality care by setting and monitoring standards of care and providing expert guidance and advice on policy to relevant bodies on matters relating to Emergency Medicine. It is calling the retention of the Four-Hour Standard for Emergency Departments, additional training places for emergency physicians to address the shortage of 2,200 consultants, improvement in systems, processes and services to allow for the timely care of patients, and support for staff to enable improvements in patient care and improved retention of emergency physicians in the NHS workforce.
