The industry body for the glass industry has said it is 'pleased' its membership has significantly increased in the past year.

Data in the newly-published Glass and Glazing Federation's annual report shows an increase of 32 members in 2013, bringing membership to 456 in total.

"This year we are on course to show another recruitment increase," said Nigel Rees, GGF Group Chief Executive.

"It is clear that our retention and acquisition strategies are working effectively as more and more companies realise the benefits of being part of the GGF.”

He added:

"In the political arena during 2013, the GGF continued its dialogue with Government on several campaigns such as Cut the VAT, Consumer Rights and Fire Safety.

"During the period, the Federation was also highly proactive as the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) and CE marking became law, with many companies in the industry having to comply."

The annual report also shows a 24% increase in visitors viewing the GGF website www.ggf.org.ukand a 15% increase in page views to 457,500.

It also details the strong relationships the GGF is developing with Trading Standards and outlines the Federation’s progress in the Trading Standards Consumer Code of Approval Scheme, and the success of the GGF’s Conciliation Scheme and how it helped members resolve disputes with consumers.

"There are many challenges facing the industry but working together we can not only cope with the pressures but also grow," said Rees.
