Nicky Morgan: We believe in a voluntary approach to companies on equal pay

Nicky Morgan said it should be up to employers to decide how much to pay their employees, and that government can help to highlight inconsistencies in pay.

“I actually think it’s up to employers but what government can do is to highlight the inconsistencies and to push for greater transparency, which we have done through Think Act report and other initiatives. What the court cases have done is to highlight these inconsistencies, then it is for employers to respond, and for Government to shed a light, through transparency initiatives on what employers are doing.
