Mark Carney has non-dom status, Bank confirms
As well as Mr Carney, the Governor of the Bank of England, the heads of Lloyds, HSBC and RBS are also domiciled elsewhere.
A spokesman for the Bank of England said Mr Carney’s status was “not a choice. It is the straightforward outcome of the tests that determine domicile status in the UK.”
The status lifts the requirement to pay tax on overseas earnings. Labour announced plans last week to abolish the rule, except for those who would be residing for the UK for a temporary period.
