Sheep Lameness Video Series Launched

AHDB Beef and Lamb

Expert advice on all aspects of sheep lameness is now available at the touch of a button thanks to a new video series from AHDB Beef & Lamb.

Aimed at producers, the collection of 13 short videos, which are presented by vet Rachel Clifton from the University of Warwick, cover topics such as identifying and treating causes of lameness, preventing and reducing spread on farm, culling, vaccination and identifying the structure of a healthy foot.

Katie Brian, AHDB Beef & Lamb’s Better Returns Programme (BRP) project manager, said: “Identifying the correct cause of lameness makes it easier to diagnose and treat the ailment appropriately. This can save time and money and improves the welfare of the livestock.”

“Each of the videos is approximately two minutes long and offers easily digestible information on a range of aspects to help producers reduce lameness in their flock. Rachel is an experienced vet who specialises in veterinary epidemiology and did an excellent job presenting the information.”

The launch of the videos coincides with the release of the updated BRP manual, Reducing Lameness for Better Returns, which now includes up-to-date research information.

The videos are housed on the AHDB Beef & Lamb YouTube channel, Beef & Lamb TV, and can be found in the Sheep Lameness series playlist.
