New appointments this week in UK politics, the civil service and public affairs

Dods People draws together a list of this week's appointments in Westminster politics, all the devolved administrations and the public affairs sector.


Government Departments:

Foreign and Commonwealth Office

Chris Rampling has been appointed Her Majesty's Ambassador to Lebanon.

Claire Evans has been appointed British High Commissioner to Belize.

Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs

Natural England – Lord Blencathra appointed as Deputy Chair.

Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board – George Lyon and Paul Temple reappointed to the board.

Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy

UK Research and Innovation - Katrina Nevin-Ridley named as Director of External Relations, Communications and Public Engagement.

Parties:

Labour Party

Karin Smyth appointed Shadow Minister for Northern Ireland in addition to her role as Shadow Deputy Leader of the House of Commons.

Luke Pollard appointed Shadow Minister for Flooding and Coastal Communities as maternity cover for Holly Lynch.

Devolved Authorities:

Northern Ireland Government

Department for Communities - Miceal McCoy reappointed as Chair, Michael Catto, Garth Earls, Hazel Francey, Leon Litvack, George McIlroy, Catherine Molloy and Margaret Ward reappointed as members.

Local Authorities:

By-election Results 2 nd August

Fylde Council – Chris Dixon elected for Ansdell – Conservative hold. (David Eaves resigned).

Peterborough Council – Gavin Elsey elected for Orton Longueville – Conservative hold. (June Bull resigned).

King's Lynn and West Norfolk Council – Stuart Dark elected for Snettisham – Conservative hold. (Avril Wright resigned).

Industry

Trade Associations

Police Federation – John Apter elected as National Chair.

Association of British Insurers – Andy Watson appointed as Chair of the General Insurance Council, replacing Amanda Blanc.

Interest Groups

Royal College of Midwives – Louise Silverton stood down as Director for Midwifery.

Variety – Frances Lang appointed as Chief Executive, replacing Sarah Nancollas.

Which? – Anabel Hoult named as Chief Executive replacing Peter Vicary-Smith in October.

Relate – Aidan Jones appointed as Chief Executive.

Consultancies

Teneo Blue Rubicon – Fiona Thorne named as Senior Managing Director and Rachel Healey-Harris and Simon Jackson as Associate Directors.
