New appointments this week in UK politics, the civil service and public affairs

Dods People draws together a list of appointments in Westminster politics, the devolved administrations and the public affairs sector in the last week.


Houses of Parliament:

House of Lords

Lord Reay was elected as the new Conservative hereditary peer.

House of Commons

Justice Committee – Robert Courts replaced Alex Chalk as a member.

Science and Technology Committee – Sam Gyimah replaced Neil O’Brien as a member.

 

Government Departments:

Ministry of Justice

Civil Justice Council - Andrew Higgins, Nick Hanning, Elisabeth Davies, Martin Barnes and Rhodri Williams appointed as members.

Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs

Marine Management Organisation - Bill Dickson, Peter Judge and David Lyall appointed to the board.

Foreign and Commonwealth Office

Charles Garrett has been appointed Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic.

Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport

Sports Grounds Safety Authority - Jil Matheson and Jane Sawyers appointed to the board.

Victoria and Albert Museum – Nicholas Coleridge reappointed as Chair.

Committee for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games - Ellie Simmonds, Lyndsey Jackson and Nick Timothy named as Non-Executive Directors.

Caroline Preston appointed as Director of Communications.

 

Devolved Authorities:

Scottish Government

Scottish Charity Regulator – Maureen Mallon to become Chief Executive on an interim basis, replacing David Robb.

 

Local Authorities:

Bridgend County Borough Council – Mark Shephard replaced Darren Mepham as Chief Executive on an interim basis.

Consultancies

Cicero Group – Nikki da Costa joined as Strategic Counsel.

Grayling - Ben Gascoigne appointed as a Director in the UK Public Affairs team.

The Brain & Spine Foundation – Marc Smith named as the new Chief Executive.

The Thomson Reuters Foundation – Antonio Zappulla promoted to become Chief Executive in April.

Beacon – Lisa Cowley appointed as Chief Executive.
