Alex Wild from the Taxpayers Alliance should be ashamed and apologise says Saga.

As Alex Wild from the Taxpayers Alliance is reported to have said that politicians should cut pensioner benefits immediately as many 'might not be around' at the next election and added that others would not be around to remember it; Saga's director of communications Paul Green says

"Comments by Alex Wild of the Taxpayers Alliance suggesting that politicians should cut pensioner benefits and that many of those affected would not live long enough to vote at the next election or might not even be able to remember which Party had made the cuts will be deeply offensive to many people - young and old alike.

People who have paid taxes all their working lives deserve to be treated with respect. The comments demonstrate ignorance of the huge financial contribution our elders have made to this country. The debate around pensioner benefits should not descend into making fun of those with dementia. Mr Wild should feel ashamed and apologise."
