New Downing Street adviser called for 'universal contraception' to stop 'permanent underclass'

3 min read

A newly-hired Downing Street adviser once called for contraception programmes to be expanded to stop the creation of a "permanent underclass".

Andrew Sabisky, one of the hires made after top Number 10 aide Dominic Cummings' call to employ "mistfits and weirdos", has also advocated for children to be given mind-altering drugs - even if it results in "a dead kid once a year".

Labour urged the Prime Minister to sack the aide - saying there were were "no words" to describe his comments.

The 27-year-old researcher, who reportedly describes himself as a "super forecaster", has been brought in to work as a contractor on Downing Street projects.

It comes after Boris Johnson's senior adviser Dominic Cummings posted a 3,000-word blog post calling for applicants to email him privately setting out what they believed they could bring to the new-look Number 10 operation.

According to the Mail on Sunday, Mr Sabisky also posted to the website run by Mr Cummings, saying existing vaccination laws could pave the way for mandatory birth control.

"One way to get around problems of unplanned pregnances creating a permanent underclass would be to legally enforce universal uptake of long-term contraception at the onset of puberty," he wrote.

"Vaccination laws give it a predecent, I would argue."

The paper also reported that in a second post to the website, Mr Sabisky dismissed the Home Affairs Select Committee's description of female genital mutilation as a scandal.

"It is still unclear to what extent FGM represents a serious risk to young girls, raised in the UK, of certain minority group origins," he wrote.

"Much of the hue and cry looks more like a moral panic."

It comes after The Times uncovered a 2016 interview for Schools Weekly, in which the new adviser advocated giving children a dose of modafinil, a cognitive-enhancing drug.

But speaking to the magazine, Mr Sabisky said: "From a societal perspective the benefits of giving everyone modafinil once a week are probably worh a dead kid once a year."

And in a series of now-deleted tweets seen by the paper, the researcher also described female Labour MPs Yvette Cooper, Angela Rayner and Rebecca Long-Bailey as "dim", while writing in another that: "I am always straight up in saying that women's sport is more comparable to the Paralympics than it is to men's."

According to the paper, Mr Sabisky has already attended several meetings in Number 10, where he reports directly to Mr Cummings.

One source told the paper: "He dresses just like Dom in a scruffy jumper and jeans. He's incredibly cocky and isn't afraid of telling everyone what he thinks, however senior they are."

Another source added: "Nobody know if he has clearance but he has been bossing the prime minister around already."

Shadow Cabinet Office minister Jon Trickett said: “There are really no words to describe Boris Johnson's appointment as one of his senior advisers a man who is on record as supporting the forced sterilisation of people he considers not worthy. He must of course be removed from this position immediately.”
