Boost for Jeremy Corbyn as Labour retake poll lead over Conservatives

Labour has regained its lead in the polls just a week after the Conservatives went ahead by their biggest margin since last year's election.
The latest YouGov poll sees Jeremy Corbyn’s party on 41%, up two percentage points on last week, while the Tories have fallen three points to 40%.
Last week’s surprise Tory lead came despite the party being embroiled in open warfare over Brexit.
The shift comes in a week when Theresa May visited Northern Ireland in an attempt to break the deadlock on restoring the assembly.
Her appearance was later criticised by parties in the Province however, including by DUP leader Arlene Foster, who said the visit had been a “distraction”.
On who would make the best Prime Minister, the poll found 36% of people prefered Theresa May – down 1% on the last poll, while those who favour Mr Corbyn remained unchanged at 29%.
It also found that 42% of respondents believe Britain was right to quit the EU – compared to 43% last week – while 46% think the country was wrong to vote leave, up two points on the previous week.
Those who believe the Government are performing badly in negotiating Brexit has also gone up by one point to 60%, while those who think they are doing well remains at 22%.
