Jeremy Corbyn calls for investigation into Westminster bullying

1 min read

The Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has called for allegations of bullying by MPs to be subject to an independent investigation.

Mr Corbyn said that sanctions must be imposed against any Member of Parliament found to have been bullying commons staff.

‘The culture of bullying is totally wrong in any workplace or any environment’ the Labour leader told reporters at Scottish Labour’s conference in Dundee.

‘It’s nasty, it’s horrible to the individual victim concerned. I’s an abuse of power by the manager or employer.’

However, Mr Corbyn said that the party would not suspend Labour MP Paul Farrelly, accused of bullying and intimidating staff, until an investigation had been completed.

‘Obviously the investigation must take place first. If there’s proof of bullying then appropriate reprimands have to take place.’
