The 2015 intake of Tory MPs will have the highest proportion of women, ethnic minorities, and business owners than any previous parliament, according to analysis by ConservativeHome.

The website has looked at the 25 candidates where the Tory incumbent is standing down in seats held by the party in 2005.

Seven of the candidates are women, five are BME, at least eight have set up their own businesses, and six are lawyers.

None of the 25 candidates has a public sector background. Eleven went to state schools and there are no Old Etonians in the intake.
