Jenny Baskerville, social mobility lead for KPMG in the UK, has commented on the publication of the Social Mobility Barometer.

Commenting on the inaugural publication of the Social Mobility Barometer – a survey by the Social Mobility Commission of almost 5000 individuals which will take place annually for the next five years – Jenny Baskerville, social mobility lead for KPMG in the UK, said:

“It is extremely disheartening to see that so many young people are pessimistic about being able to get on in life. Younger generations believe they are not getting a fair deal and business has an important role to play in improving this situation.

“KPMG last year became the first organisation in the UK to publish detailed workforce data outlining the socio-economic make-up of our firm. Understanding your workforce and the issues that matter to them can improve how you recruit in the future, to ensure that you attract the best talent regardless of background.

“Our firm has made great strides in driving the social mobility conversation forward, but there is much more to be done, and we encourage other businesses to take up the mantle of tackling social mobility in the UK.”
