RHA National Lorry Week 2017 - it's not just about the truck

Road Haulage Association

2 min read

The Road Haulage Association’s third annual National Lorry Week runs from 11-16 September and a busy schedule of events will be taking place across the UK.

They include a Parliamentary Reception on September 12th at the House of Commons,  Advance Logistic Support will be at a primary school Leicestershire, She’s RHA and Auto Trader will be holding an event at Auto Trader HQ in Manchester to tackle diversity in the workplace.

Events will be informative, fun and all will have the same goal - to show just how important the industry that transports 90% of all goods by land in the UK is to our economy.

But National Lorry Week isn’t just about the truck and the theme of this year’s event is ‘The Next Generation’. Government statistics* show that by 2022, the industry needs to recruit 1.2 million more people. Drivers, workshop technicians, warehouse operatives, management – we need to boost the industry’s employee base as much as we can.

Members will be engaging with schoolchildren, students and members of the public at schools, colleges and in town centres.

A wide array of events are taking place all 1over the country, from a Parliamentary Reception on September 12th at the House of Commons, to Advance Logistics Support’s primary school visit in Leicestershire, to the She’s RHA and Auto Trader event at Auto Trader HQ in Manchester tackling diversity in the workplace.

A full schedule of events for National Lorry Week can be found here. Join us to find out why the haulage industry is the lifeblood of this country, and you’ll leave loving the lorry as much as we do!
