She’s RHA partners with Creating Inclusive Cultures to promote diversity and inclusion

Road Haulage Association

2 min read

The RHA is pleased to announce the partnership between She’s RHA and Creating Inclusive Cultures (CIC).

Creating Inclusive Cultures is the brainchild of Charlotte Sweeney OBE and is a collaboration of companies and employers who are committed to realising and take advantage of the benefits of diversity and inclusion. It provides a forum for businesses to share best practice and who want to create a thriving workplace for everyone.

There is an acute driver shortage in the road transport sector. It has an aging workforce (the average age of an HGV driver is 55) and because of the cost of training, there are not enough new entrants coming through the system.

She’s RHA is leading the way in promoting diversity and inclusion in the industry by accessing a more extensive and diverse talent pool to attract a younger workforce. But there must also be a strong focus on employee retention.

RHA Board member and founder of She’s RHA, Lesley O’Brien said: “I am looking forward to the collaboration between She’s RHA, Charlotte, and her team.  This partnership will give She’s RHA members the opportunity to access even more events throughout the UK and the ability to network, learn and share best practise with like-minded individuals from a variety of industries.”

Fiona Triller, Programme Director for CIC said: “Creating Inclusive Cultures are delighted to welcome the RHA as a corporate partner. The logistics/transport sector is under represented in diversity and inclusion and the RHA through its membership will bring a new perspective to our city-based networks. We look forward to a long and productive partnership.”
