Professional bodies are an essential part of the UK's economic fabric, providing support, raising standards and offering a collective voice for Britain's workforce. But they are so much more than that. Non-partisan, not-for-profit and, in the case of Chartered Institutes, with a remit to work in the public interest, they contribute a great deal of expert research and knowledge on their professional area, be that computing or customer service, law, learning or financial services.
