Since The National Lottery started to fund elite sport in 1997, National Lottery players have supported over 5,000 British Olympic and Paralympic athletes. An extraordinary summer is drawing to a close and, as I returned home from Tokyo last week, there was finally time to draw breath and reflect on a very special Paralympic Games. A Games that, in the words of Andrew Parsons, the International Paralympic Committee President, ‘many doubted would happen, many thought impossible’.
