New appointments this week in UK politics, civil service and public affairs

Dods People draws together a list of last week's appointments in Westminster politics, all the devolved administrations and the public affairs sector.


Houses of Parliament:

House of Lords

Lord MacLaurin (Conservative, Life Peer) retired on 22nd December.

Lord Blyth of Rowington (Conservative, Life Peer) retired on 1st January.

Government departments:

HM Treasury

Prudential Regulation Committee – David Belsham reappointed as an external member.

Financial Conduct Authority – Charles Randall appointed as Chair from 1st April.

National Infrastructure Commission – Lord Adonis resigned as Chair.

Department for Transport

Office of Rail and Road – Stephen Glaister reappointed as Chair.

Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs

Veterinary Products Committee - Enrique Vega, Mark White, Ye-Mei Ruby Chang, Andrea Tarr, Helen Ballantyne and Rachel Bennett have been appointed as members and Malcolm Bennett has been appointed as Chair.

Parties:

Labour Party:

Alex Cunningham resigned as Shadow Minister for Pensions.

Devolved Authorities:

National Assembly for Wales

Nathan Gill (Independent, elected as UKIP) resigned as AM for North Wales on 27th December and was replaced by Mandy Jones (UKIP).

Local Authorities:

By-election Result 4th January

Hertsmere Borough Council - Rebecca Butler elected for Borehamwood Cowley Hill – Labour gain from Conservative.

Industry

Consultancies

JBP - James Hinchliffe promoted to Strategic Engagement Director and James Hargrave to Policy and Communications Director.

FTI Consulting - Alex Deane and Giles Barrie promoted to become Senior Managing Directors.

Interest Groups

Christian Aid - Amanda Khozi Mukwashi appointed as Chief Executive from April.

Corporates

BBA Aviation - Mark Johnstone promoted to become Chief Executive.
