EHRC Briefing - Third Reading debate of the Mental Health Units (Use of Force) Bill, 6 July 2018

Equality and Human Rights Commission

1 min read Partner content

Ahead of Friday’s Third Reading debate of the Mental Health Units (Use of Force) Bill, the Equality and Human Rights Commission has produced a briefing.

The full briefing can be found here.

This briefing highlights key provisions in the Bill aimed to improve accountability, reporting and investigations into the use of force in mental health units.

The Bill addresses many of the concerns and recommendations that the Commission and UN Treaty Bodies have made previously in relation to the human rights and equality issues arising from the use of force.

Given the important provision in this Bill, as well as the cross-party support it has received, we hope that you will be able to attend this debate and help ensure its continued progress.
