London First responds to ONS migration figures

London First

The Office for National Statistics has today released figures for net migration. Mark Hilton, immigration director of London First, said:

"These figures show that Britain is a magnet for talent and investment. Immigration may have its challenges but it helps us fill skills shortages and raises living standards for those born here. It would do nothing for jobs to cut ourselves off from Europe and the rest of the world."

"Business is worried that the anti-immigration rhetoric in recent weeks will encourage the government to pursue even stronger anti-immigration policies after the referendum. This would not be in the interests of London, which thrives exactly because it is a global city.”
