James Taylor, Head of Policy and Public Affairs at disability charity Scope has responded to news that people are increasingly taking the Government to court over changes to their benefits.

“We know Personal Independence Payment (PIP) isn’t working for many disabled people.

“Disabled people face extortionate financial penalties as a result of their impairments – Scope research shows this amounts to an average of £550 a month.

“PIP is crucial in helping disabled people manage some of these extra costs.

“The assessment process is in desperate need of reform. Ahead of the election it is vital that all political parties listen to the voices of disabled people and commit to overhauling the PIP assessment process.”
