442,934 young people aged under 25 provide unpaid care every week In England and Wales

In England and Wales 442,934 young people aged under 25 provide unpaid care each week. This is 7.6% of all persons providing unpaid care and is 2.6% of all young people aged under 25.

In England 413,779 young people aged under 25 provide unpaid care each week. This is 7.6% of all persons providing unpaid care and is 2.5% of all young people aged under 25.

This data is in a new report being published tomorrow Saturday 16th November at the GMB Young Members Conference in London. 65 young member delegates from Britain and Ireland will attend the conference.

The report shows that 71, 958 young people aged under 25 provide unpaid care every week in London. This is 10.4% of all those in the capital providing unpaid care. Young people aged under 25 providing unpaid care are 2.7% of all young people aged under 25 in London.

The numbers of young people under 25 providing unpaid care in other regions are as follows: North West, 62,826, Wales, 29,155, West Midlands, 47,804, Yorkshire and The Humber, 41,074, North East, 21,033, East Midlands, 35,098, South East, 57,633, East, 40,012 and South West, 36,341. The full figures for each region are in the table below. Also at the foot of this release on the GMB website at www.gmb.org.uk are 10 regional releases showing number of young people under 25 providing unpaid care in each local authority in each region.
