FSB set to hold first policy conference
Government Ministers, a former economic advisor to Barack Obama and leading entrepreneurs attend FSB's first small business conference
The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) is holding its first policy conference in London on 27 January 2014 to set the agenda for the future of enterprise, growth and skills. The FSB, the leading voice of small business, believes small and medium sized-firms will form a key part of the economic forecast in 2014.
Hosted by FSB National Policy Chairman, Mike Cherry, attendees to the Conference include senior Cabinet Ministers, a representative from the British Business Bank, leading entrepreneurs, and Karen Gordon Mills. Karen served in US President Barack Obama's cabinet as the Administrator of the Small Business Administration (SBA) from 2009 until August 2013. Flying over specifically for the Conference Ms Mills will contribute to the economic debates.
The day will centre on two vital areas of the UK's economy: growth and skills. The first session will explore access to finance and how to create broader choice in the banking sector. The discussion will involve Shadow Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, Chuka Umunna MP, former SBA Administrator Karen Mills, a senior British Business Bank representative and Professor of Small Businesses and Entrepreneurship, Francis Greene.
Another significant area of policy is skills, in which the FSB will hear from a number of young entrepreneurs, the Minister for Skills and Enterprise, Matthew Hancock MP, CEO Young Enterprise, Michael Mercieca and Holts Group Chief Executive, Jason Holt.
