London First reaction to Sir David Higgins 'HS2 Plus' report
Today, Sir David Higgins, Chair of HS2 Ltd, has made a series of recommendations to Government on how HS2 can be better and delivered quicker in his report 'HS2 Plus'.
London First believes HS2 is good for the whole of the UK – both north and south. By joining up our cities better, HS2 will give people greater choice about where to live and work, and will give businesses more opportunities about where to trade and invest.
We also welcome Sir David Higgins' proposals for a better Euston . The current proposals are functional when they should be transformational. Euston has enormous potential for major new housing, office and retail development above and around the station. With the right plan in place, Euston could be the next King's Cross.
