Ofgem decision is short sighted says London First
Commenting on today's announcement by Ofgem, David Leam, London First's Executive Director, Policy, said:
“Ofgem's short sighted decision to further delay investment in electricity distribution networks in London and the South East is a huge disappointment.
“London continues to grow rapidly, and a new development can easily demand the same amount of power as a small town, so significant new investment is required to increase the capacity and reliability of central London's ageing grid.
“London needs long term investment in its energy infrastructure, not short-term politicking around bills. Failing to invest in this way threatens to choke off jobs and growth in the capital – and the UK as a whole.”
