Low carbon liquid fuels – a solution for off-gas grid heating

OFTEC is active in developing low carbon solutions. As the leading provider of heating for rural homes, we have significant insight into the challenge they present. Together with industry partners, we are working to bring to market a sustainable low carbon liquid fuel to replace heating oil. Our research shows that this alternative is the most cost-effective way to decarbonise these homes. The benefits include:

  • 100% fossil-free liquid fuels can be deployed by 2035
  • Enables low cost decarbonisation without disrupting the home
  • Allows households to decarbonise simply by changing the fuel
  • Protects UK manufacturing and jobs
  • Will help support and encourage investment in UK biofuel infrastructure.

OFTEC and its members are committed to delivering this solution and supporting rural households as the UK works towards its goal of achieving net zero emissions.
