Blue Cross comment on e-petition 229004 debate relating to the identification of pets

Becky Thwaites, Head of Public Affairs at Blue Cross, said: “We know how heartbreaking it is when a beloved family pet goes missing and the owner is at a loss with not knowing what has happened to them, or if they are safe.

“We support calls for a new law requiring authorities to scan deceased cats found in the street before they are simply thrown away. Many worried pet owners would then have the closure they deserve and would be able to properly grieve.

“Blue Cross would also urge for a change in the law that would see compulsory microchipping of cats - as is already in place with dogs. Cats and cat owners deserve better.”
