The Women in Westminster: The 100: 2022 list is revealed

I’m delighted that The House magazine’s Women in Westminster: The 100 is back for a third year; and we continue to recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements of women over the past twelve months in public life, by recognising one hundred women who have inspired in their sector in the world of Westminster. Much has changed since we started this programme three years ago. For only the second time in history, two of the four Great Offices of State are held by women, and we have seen some remarkable women demonstrate courage, adaptability, and innovation across journalism, the civil service, public affairs, campaigning, and in both Houses, through a global pandemic.
Woman still face a number of challenges, both inside and outside of Westminster, but we shouldn’t lose sight of the huge strides that we all continue to make, and the remarkable women that have been at forefront of this country during the pandemic.
I would like to thank the rest of the Patrons board for their continuing support of Women in Westminster: The 100, and welcome Dame Meg Hillier MP, who joined us this year. Every year we have the unenviable job of narrowing down a long list of talented women, and this year it was harder than ever, with almost three hundred nominations!
We were once again struck by the number of women paving their way in Westminster. Therefore, we have decided that the fifteen Ones to Watch, that we introduced last year, will now be a permanent fixture. You can read some exciting interviews with this year’s future figureheads throughout.
It is far too rare that we champion the achievements and contribution women have made to our democracy across all sectors and shine a light on how much of a difference they have made.
I hope Women in Westminster: The 100 continues to inspire the next generation of women to begin their journey, that those in the midst to continue the work they are doing, and that we see many of them featured on The 100 in years to come.
I look forward to celebrating with everyone in person once again, and hope to for many years to come.
