90% of Scots punters bet on Yes
Nearly 90% of bets placed in bookmaker William Hill's have been for a Yes vote in the independence referendum.
William Hillsaid 88.9% OF all bets placed in their 323 Scottish betting shops and by online customers of the company with Scottish addresses, have been for a Yes vote on September 18th.
"The Scottish referendum has already astonished us by becoming the biggest political betting event we’ve ever seen," said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
"The regional variations in betting patterns are fascinating, and we suspect there will be more fluctuations in the betting in the final fortnight of the campaign."
48% of all the bets William Hill have taken so far on the outcome have been placed in Scottish betting shops, or by online customers with Scottish addresses.
32% of all bets have been placed in betting shops in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, or by customers with addresses in these locations, and of these 39.1% are for Yes and 60.9% for No.
The remaining 20% of bets have been placed elsewhere in the world – with just 4.1% for Yes and 95.9% for No.

William Hillhave been placed by online customers; 21.46% in the company’s shops.
William Hill is offering 1/4 odds on No and 11/4 on Yes.
