Efficiency and profitability of producing high quality beef and lamb for domestic and export markets will come under the spotlight at this year’s EBLEX annual conference.

The conference, free to EBLEX levy payers, will be held at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, on November 4 and focus on several topics, including a presentation on the retailer perspective on current market conditions by Duncan Sinclair, agriculture manager for Waitrose.

Other topics for discussion will include the impact of China, banking and financing in the livestock sector, creating change through improved relationships in farming. EBLEX sector director Nick Allen will give an overview of the outlook for beef and lamb, while Shropshire farmer and EBLEX board member James Evans will highlight the challenges facing beef production.

Dr Phil Hadley, EBLEX southern senior regional manager and conference organiser, said: “Our annual conference is a fixture in the industry calendar. It provides the ideal forum for farmers, processors and other industry stakeholders to meet with the EBLEX team to discuss the key issues facing the industry and examine potential future opportunities.”

Question and answer sessions will also be included, with EBLEX staff on hand to discuss technical issues and demonstrate other aspects of the organisation’s work.

• Places can be reserved by phoning 0870 608 6610 or email conference2014@eblex.ahdb.org.uk Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Further details can be found in the Annual Conference 2014 section of the EBLEX website www.eblex.org.uk.
