Responding to the HE-BCI survey, Kevin Baughan, Chief Development Officer for Innovate UK said:

"Collaboration between businesses, and academics is a key component of our innovation economy, and critical to solving the UKs productivity challenges. Universities are often at the centre of local specialisation hubs and Innovate UK uses its business insight to help link these to the national innovation led economy. So the data in the HE-BCI report, recognising increased collaborations between businesses and universities, as well as an increase in contract research funded by industry, is great news.

“The formation of UK Research and Innovation is a game-changing opportunity to accelerate cross-disciplinary collaboration here in the UK and further strengthening the unique advantages we enjoy from having a strong partnership between science, innovation and business."
