Leeds Brewery to expand production and open first pub outside the city
Independent brewery and pub operator Leeds Brewery is to expand its production capacity and open its first pub outside Leeds – The Duke of York in York city centre – following a £395,000 finance deal from Santander Corporate Commercial.
Leeds Brewery was established by founders Michael Brothwell and Sam Moss in 2007 and has since become the city’s largest brewery, supplying 70,000 pints a week to hundreds of pubs across the country as well as bottled beers to major supermarket chains. Alongside this the company operates six pubs in Leeds, including the Grade II star listed Garden Gate in Hunslet.
The brewery produces cask, keg and bottled beers, with its flagship brand Leeds Pale widely available across Yorkshire.
The finance will allow the company to increase its production capacity in order to continue to meet growing demand, as well as allowing it to further expand its pub estate, beginning with its new site in the centre of York.
