The National Federation of Builders (NFB) has today (Friday 12 July 2013) announced the launch of its building information modelling (BIM) online diagnostic service to help companies identify where they are on the road to being BIM ready by 2016.

Launched under its NFB Training brand as part of a full programme of support, the online diagnostic service is free to companies looking to implement BIM strategies within their organisations.

The service, which only takes a few minutes to use, will help organisations to understand where they are on the BIM maturity scale and identifying how they can get ready for BIM Level 2. Upon completion the organisation will receive an immediate BIM score based on their answers to some simple questions. Key focus areas include current practices and processes, levels of knowledge and understanding, and training plans. Along with their score companies will also receive a top-level action plan detailing the possible next steps to getting themselves BIM ready.

The service will, for many, be an initial step towards undertaking a wider and more indepth on site assessment audit, also available through the NFB’s BIM package of support and which will provide companies with a much more detailed action plan for BIM implementation.

Commenting on the launch, NFB chief executive Julia Evans said: “The NFB is committed to supporting the implementation of BIM, particularly that by SMEs. With the support of CITB we have developed a full and wide reaching programme of activity of which the BIM online diagnostic service is the latest development. SMEs will find the service of huge benefit as an initial benchmark of where they are on their BIM journey and the NFB will support them fully in their aspirations to get where they need to be.”

The NFB’s BIM online diagnostic service is available through the NFB Training website at www.nfbtraining.co.uk. For further details on the full programme of support on offer please contact the NFB on 0845 057 0041.
