Planning permission granted, paving the way for physical and social regeneration of Pollards Hill

Moat

Last night, Moat was granted Planning Permission for regeneration works at Pollards Hill in the London Borough of Merton. The £35m regeneration and development scheme represents a significant investment in Merton and the Pollards Hill community through the creation of new homes and the rejuvenation of existing homes.

The project will extensively refurbish over 400 existing Moat homes and offer a range of refurbishment works to 450 freeholder properties. This will include new high performance roofing systems, external wall insulation, replacement windows and doors as well as some 200 new kitchens, bathrooms, heating and electrical upgrades where required. These improvements are designed to enhance the look and feel of people’s homes and also to provide savings through the use of more efficient heating systems.

This will be complemented with extensive environmental enhancements across the site, providing improved public places with a key focus on improving accessibility and driving a greater sense of place and community. The project will also create additional recreational and community space.

One of the great achievements of the project will be to complete the regeneration works whilst people continue to live in their homes; the local community is central to this regeneration project and will continue to be at the heart of Pollards Hill moving forward.

Councillor Martin Whelton, Pollards Hill ward councillor and Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Environment and Housing, said:

“It is great to see this scheme progressing in Pollards Hill, with planning permission ensuring the fantastic project can move forward to the next phase. The much-needed 66 additional homes and the regeneration of the estate will be great for residents and enhance the area for future generations to come.”

Steve Nunn, Moat’s Executive Director of Development and New Business, said:

“We are looking forward to delivering this significant regeneration project in Pollards Hill. We will be working closely with our contractor, United Living, Merton Council and residents with a focus on the social elements of regeneration as much as the physical, helping to deliver a more cohesive community and greater opportunities for local people.”
