Nationwide

Through the PRS Partnership Board, Nationwide Building Society, ARLA Propertymark, Countrywide, the National Landlords Association, the Nationwide Foundation and Shelter have united to welcome the launch of the new database and call for wider access so that they may also play their part in improving the private rented sector.

Paul Wootton, Chair of the PRS Partnership board and Nationwide’s Director of Specialist Lending commented:

“Encouraging progress has been made by the Government on this issue – but we see real opportunity if access to the database were extended to mortgage lenders and brokers, letting agents, sector professional and trade bodies.

“This would create an environment where it is difficult for rogue landlords and agents to operate, as well as supporting local authority enforcement activity.

“We all want to play our part in ensuring the sector works fairly.”

The PRS Partnership Board is a cross sector group working together on issues facing the private rented sector. Board members include ARLA Propertymark, Countrywide, the National Landlords Association (NLA), Nationwide Building Society, the Nationwide Foundation and Shelter. The Board focuses on areas of mutual concern to drive change and inform Government policy to support and deliver a high quality, professional private rented sector.
