RHA Scottish Conference declared a resounding success
Scotland’s Hamilton Park Racecourse was the venue for the 2014 RHA Scottish Conference, with the 120 members in attendance all declaring it to be a great success.
Scottish Traffic Commissioner, Joan Aitken, began the day focussing on the importance of the relationship between the operator and the TC, stressing the importance of trust, based on complying with the agreed undertakings stated on the Operator’s Licence.
Caroline Hicks, Head of Enforcement at DVSA, highlighted the specific areas that will be targeted and areas where operators need to be extra vigilant in their checks. She also made clear the importance of checking Operator Compliance Risk Scores on a regular basis.
Joe Colasurdo from RHA Analysis explained the vital role tachograph analysis plays in compliance. Delegates also heard from Conference sponsors Nigel Emms of Iveco and Darren Lindsey of Michelin. The final presentation of the day was from Mike Cunningham of RHA Legal Services which provoked an active QA session covering a wide range of legal concerns.
RHA Director for Scotland, Martin Reid said: “I was delighted to see so many in attendance and wish to thank our sponsors, Iveco, Michelin, RHA Fuel Card Services, Mandata, Eco Stars and Linde Material Handling.
“Face-to-face events such as this serve to create the information flow that allows our members to establish a culture of compliance within their companies. It is vitally important that the trust between the industry and the government agencies is maintained; yesterday’s Conference ensured that the co-operation we have established will continue.”
