Local authority by-elections held Thursday 3rd April 2014:

Pendle Borough Council – Blacko and Higherford: Conservative hold

By-election held following the disqualification of Conservative Cllr Shelagh Derwent.

McEvoy, Noel – Conservative – 370 (66.67%) – elected
Waddington, Michael – UKIP – 86 (15.5%)
Oliver, Robert Andrew – Labour – 65 (11.71%)
Reynolds, Darren Steven – Liberal Democrat – 34 (6.12%)

Votes: 555*
Turnout: 38.25%
Majority: 284

*NB: number does not include spoilt ballots

Political compositions of the local authorities concerned:

Pendle Borough Council: Conservative 19, Labour 17, Liberal Democrat 12, BNP 1 – No Overall Control
