UK Savings Week 2025: Working together to improve the way we save
The Building Societies Association’s UK Savings Week returns on 22nd–28th September 2025, with its bold ambition to help more people build financial resilience through better saving habits. Now in its fourth year, the campaign continues to grow in impact and importance, with 2025 set to be the most engaging yet.
This year, the campaign is also resonating in
Westminster. According to YouGov research commissioned by the BSA, 67 per cent of Labour MPs expressed concern about their constituents’ ability to save for emergencies. With the cost of living continuing to bite, UK Savings Week offers a constructive, cross-party opportunity to support financial wellbeing at a grassroots level.
The theme of this year’s campaign - Savings. They’re what you make of them - brings saving to life for real people. From holidays and home ownership to unexpected emergencies, it’s about making saving tangible, relatable and achievable for everyone.
Why do we need the campaign?
Because 14 million people in the UK have less than £100 in emergency savings, while £300bn sits in accounts earning no interest.
Yet, research consistently shows that a significant proportion (47 per cent in the latest report) of those without even one penny saved believe they could start putting some money aside each month. Small steps can lead to lasting change and that’s exactly the kind of behaviour change UK Savings Week seeks to inspire.
The campaign's goals are ambitious but vital, by 2030 we want:
- 2 million more regular savers
- £50bn moved out of accounts paying no interest
The 2024 campaign showed that we can make a difference. Among those who had heard of UK Savings Week, 26 per cent took positive action, such as opening a new account or reviewing their budget. For 18–34-year-olds, those least likely to have good savings habits, this figure rose to 83 per cent.
So, what can you do?
The biggest change in behaviour comes when people hear the UK Savings Week messages. We therefore want as many individuals, organisations and politicians as possible to get behind UK Savings Week and spread the word.
By doing so, you will:

- Align with a trusted national campaign
- Support the long-term financial wellbeing of your constituents
