Local entrepreneurs David and Beverley Wilson are taking on a new venture with the acquisition of recycling and waste management business Enviro Kleen, backed by a finance package from Santander Corporate Commercial.

Enviro Kleen works with commercial organisations in Fife and the surrounding area to efficiently manage waste and maximise recycling opportunities. It provides a waste and bin collection service to local businesses, from small shops to the Kingdom Shopping centre, and then sorts the waste into recycling and landfill. It also has a skip hire service.

Husband and wife team, David and Beverly, plan to grow the business, which is already one of the leading recycling businesses in Fife, into one of the leading Scottish firms in the sector under the brand Enviro Kleen (Scotland). David has been working in the business for the past year to fully understand how the company operates and to learn about the market. The previous owners were selling the business to retire.

He plans to introduce a sales team to promote the business and is currently looking at new machinery to enable the company to recycle mattresses, which are currently just disposed of by landfill.

Enviro Kleen, based in Kirkcaldy, currently employs 10 staff and serves a client base of around 200 businesses, including McDonalds and Fife Council.

David Wilson, Owner of Enviro Kleen (Scotland), said: “We are delighted to have secured the funding to help us make this purchase. Beverley and I have been looking at potential new opportunities and this is a great business for us to work on together. To have already had the chance to spend a year working in the business and getting to know our customers and suppliers has been a unique chance to really get to grips with how I can develop, evolve and grow the company.”

David Gallacher, Relationship Director for Santander Corporate Commercial, said: “We are thrilled to have been able to support David and Beverley with this acquisition. We know from their current ventures that they make a strong management team, and David’s passion for developing the business has continually impressed me. I know that with their drive, commitment and entrepreneurial experience, they will make every success of this new venture.”
