Watch Hinkley Point C’s giant dome lift live EDF 1 min read15 July Partner content Hinkley Point C will this week broadcast a major moment in its construction – the lifting of a 245-tonne steel dome onto the second reactor building. The world’s largest land crane “Big Carl” will place the 14-meter-wide dome on top of the 44-meter-high reactor building on Thursday - a huge milestone in the building of Britain’s first nuclear power station in 30 years. The dome closes the building allowing the installation of the nuclear reactor and equipment. The Dome lift will be live streamed on EDF Energy’s YouTube from approximately 09:00 BST (subject to weather conditions) - offering people the opportunity to watch a spectacular engineering feat live. Hinkley Point C has released a new video and case studies showing how its identical Unit 2 is being built 20-30% more quickly than Unit 1, thanks to the innovation and experience of building an identical design with the same teams. These innovations and the advantages will benefit Sizewell C from the start. Related Reform Councils Could Delay Green Infrastructure Projects For Months By Nadine Batchelor-Hunt 14 May
