EXCL: Labour councillor suspended for calling Theresa May and Esther McVey ‘foul b*****s'

2 min read

A former Labour mayor has been suspended from the party for calling Theresa May and Esther McVey "foul b*****s', PoliticsHome can reveal.

Wakefield councillor Richard Taylor, who was set to stand for Labour in next month’s council elections, made the comments on Facebook.

He also branded Conservative backbencher Lucy Allan a “classy b****”.

When PoliticsHome revealed the posts last week, Conservative MP Andrea Jenkyns called on the Labour leadership to take action.

She said: "It’s clear to see that Jeremy Corbyn has failed to implement his promise of ‘kinder politics’. When will Jeremy Corbyn and the Labour party take action to stamp out language that has no place in public life?"

Before his suspension, Mr Taylor, who was mayor of Wakefield for four years, defended his comments about Mrs May.

He said: "Well she is isn’t she? Lets be fair, she’s the most vile thing that has ever walked on a pair of legs.

"I class them all the same. They are all out the same bag as far as I’m concerned."

He added: “Yeah I think that is about right, yeah. I think the Tories are fair game.

"I hate the Tories with a passion. Always have done, always will do and I hate them even more now than I did before. Simple as that."

Labour sources confirmed Mr Taylor has been suspended.

A party spokesperson said: “The Labour party takes all complaints of abuse on social media extremely serious, which are fully investigated in line with our procedures."
