Jo Cox commemorated with Commons coat of arms

1 min read

A commemorative plaque has been installed in the House of Commons to mark the death of former Labour MP Jo Cox, a year after her murder.

Ms Cox’s two children designed and unveiled a coat of arms featuring the words “more in common”, taken from her maiden speech in the chamber.

MPs who are killed while in office are commemorated by a plaque in the Commons chamber.

The event took place as part of a Parliamentary “family day”, and Ms Cox’s husband Brendan thanked those involved in making it happen.

Ms Cox was killed last June in her constituency by far-right extremist Thomas Mair, who was subsequently sentenced to life in prison.
