Mark Atkinson, Chief Executive of disability charity Scope, said:

"This is yet another warning sign that there is not enough money in our social care system.

"Approximately a third of social care users are disabled, yet Scope research has found that over half do not receive the care they need to do the basics in life such as getting washed, getting dressed and leaving the house.

“These issues cannot continue to be ignored. Disabled people were left out of the social care debate over the election.

"Without urgent action from Government we will find ourselves with a shattered care system that is beyond repair."
